TOBIN | PARNES CREATES NEW ERA OF WORKSPACE DESIGN FOR BRAVERMAN AND ASSOCIATES

Design Bonds Firm’s Prestigious History With Contemporary Architectural Elements

New York, NY (December 3, 2008) – Tobin | Parnes Design announced the completion of its latest design project in workspace design for the offices of Braverman and Associates P.C., a New York City law firm specializing in high-end residential real estate law at 330 Madison Avenue.

To convey the prominent father-son law firm’s esteemed history as well as meet the busy firm’s growing needs, Tobin | Parnes took on the challenge of expanding the firm’s existing office area with the addition of an adjacent floor to create one cohesive office space.

“Our overall design goal was to create an elegant and refined space that would reflect the firm’s high standards and meet their functional requirements,” says Tobin | Parnes’ Principal Carol Tobin. “We also integrated a warm color palette with modern architectural elements to convey the firm’s generational and prestigious history while incorporating contemporary design details and architectural elements that harmoniously adjoin with the historic elements of the building.”

Robert Braverman, Managing Partner of Braverman and Associates P.C., commented, “Our office space needed to expand to accommodate our growing needs. From a style standpoint, the ambience needed to provide comfort and assert professionalism while also embracing our core values. Furthermore, by adding another floor to our bustling office while still maintaining our daily business operations was a challenging yet fulfilling component of the design process.”

The expansion increased the firm’s office space from 6,000 square-feet to 12,000 square-feet. Tobin | Parnes called for the restoration of the building’s original grand marble staircase as the centerpiece of the office entrance. Full height patterned glass was designed to act as an exciting entry to the firm’s new reception area positioned at the top of the marble staircase; the new contemporary glass entry compliments the existing traditional architecture.

Another striking sculptural element to the space was the addition of a new, custom designed “floating” internal staircase that connects the two office floors. Visible from the reception area, the stair design incorporates a combination of walnut, glass, acrylic and steel set against a contrasting and dramatic backdrop of upholstered acoustic panels that clad the adjacent walls and ceiling to emphasize the double height of the ceiling.
