Building Up On Broadway
Tobin+Parnes recently raised the curtain on their latest project in NYC. Working closely with client, 1265 Broadway LLC, the design team collaborated with the building ownership to transform the eight story, 51,540 square-foot building into 60,124 square-foot building adding a 9th floor and penthouse.
Developed for mixed use of commercial, residential and retail, the building upgrades included a new electrical service and distribution, new heating system, building-wide sprinkler system and the addition of a new wheel chair accessible elevator to complement the refurbishment of the two existing elevators.
The project’s scope of work addressed the building in its entirety. The façade was cleaned, repaired and architectural details were restored. New windows and exterior lighting were dramatically located to highlight the architectural characteristics of the building. The residential, Sixth Avenue lobby and the commercial, Broadway lobby were redesigned using imported stone, marble and granite finishes. The premium apartments were outfitted with custom kitchens and bathrooms using granite, limestone, mosaic tiles, honey toned custom millwork and high-end kitchen and plumbing fixtures.
Tobin+Parnes Helps Giant Kitchen Manufacturer Go Petite in Soho

Rheon Automatic Machinery Company Ltd, a leading Japanese manufacturer of small and large scaled baking equipment, commissioned Tobin+Parnes to design a café prototype for the company’s new retail casual dining concept, Rheon Café, in New York City’s Soho District.
Central to the retail concept was Rheon’s desire to create a warm and inviting showplace to highlight their line of high-end consumer bakery and pastry equipment as well as the extraordinary foods they produce. The Tobin+Parnes design team’s goal was to create an open environment and warm ambiance of an upscale contemporary bakery café. Warm toned millwork; marble counters and mosaic tiles reflect Rheon’s vision of quality materials in an almost residential, welcoming setting. Carefully selected and located lighting highlights all the Rheon products. An open bakery room was designed so the essence of Rheon’s vision could be showcased.
Rheon Café opened this past November and is the parent company’s first consumer retail outlet in the United States. The Soho located café and back garden dining area offers diners intimate spaces to enjoy the café’s sandwiches, soups and pastries, while watching Rheon’s high-end consumer kitchen equipment in-action.
