Tobin+Parnes Celebrates 25^th Anniversary Latino Style

Tobin+Parnes commemorated their Silver Anniversary with a festive holiday party at their new downtown office on December 13, 2007. Despite Mother Nature, TPDE endured and neither rain nor sleet nor snow would stop TPDE from celebrating this well deserved accomplishment. The event featured a bountiful banquet of food, drink and merriment.


Tobin+Parnes Awarded AIANYS Citation for Design

Tobin+Parnes was selected by the American Institute of Architects New York State, Inc. (AIANYS) to receive the prestigious AIA New York State Citation for Design for their innovative black-box gallery prototype for retail store R.sole.

Tobin+Parnes was presented the AIA New York State Citation for Design award at the AIA New York State 2007 Design Awards Reception in New York City on October 5. Senior Associate, Josh Sherman accepted the award on behalf of the entire Tobin+Parnes team.

“It is a great honor to be awarded the AIANYS Citation for Design, as the award is given by our peers in the architecture and design field,” said Carol Tobin, principal, of Tobin+Parnes. “The collaboration between Tobin+Parnes and R.sole Owner Barry Pener, resulted in a dynamic synergy of ideas and concepts.”

Tobin+Parnes celebrated the completion of R.sole– a cutting-edge retail space offering high-end, collectible shoes and sneakers located in St. Louis. The project’s innovative black-box design combined a gallery-inspired configuration with an urban nightclub aesthetic.

R.sole’s innovative black-box prototype inspired interior has previously been honored with the 2006 AIA/St. Louis Design Award and Chain Store Age’s 2007 Retail Store of the Year award in the footwear category and First Place in the exterior design category. It has been featured in many of the design industry’s top publications including gracing the cover of Contract Lighting Magazine’s March / April 2007 issue. In addition to the St. Louis location, Tobin+Parnes was commissioned to design and expand the concept in Memphis, Tennessee.
